Age-dependent sex differences in cardiometabolic risk factors

چکیده
Abstract Cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs) are a major cause of mortality worldwide, yet men and women present remarkable differences in disease prognosis, onset manifestation. Here we characterize how sex cardiometabolic risk factors vary with age by examining 45 phenotypes 6 lifestyle 146,021 participants the Dutch population cohort Lifelines. We show that 71% studied phenotypes. For 31% these phenotypes, phenotypic difference between sexes is dependent on age. CMD various patterns age-related differences, ranging from no for such as body mass index (BMI) to strong age-modified lipid levels. also identify influence sex- age-dependent manner. These results highlight importance taking into account when studying CMDs.

Sexual Behavior and Age Differences in Methamphetamine Dependent and Non-Dependent Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM)
Objective: Methamphetamine consumers use can have more efficient practices, be hyperactive, and take sexual risk-taking behaviors. These behaviors are particularly remarkable in homosexuals. Methods: The present study was conducted based on casual-comparative method in the field of descriptive studies. Since 1 March to 25 June 2015, a total of 62 MSM subjects were selected ...
متن کاملSex-Based Differences in Cardiometabolic Biomarkers.
BACKGROUND Few data are available comparing cardiovascular disease (CVD) biomarker profiles between women and men in the general population. We analyzed sex-based differences in multiple biomarkers reflecting distinct pathophysiological pathways, accounting for differences between women and men in CVD risk factors, body composition, and cardiac morphology. METHODS A cross-sectional analysis w...
متن کاملAldosterone & Cardiometabolic Risk Factors
886 The renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system (RAAS) is a dynamic hormonal system. The manner in which the RAAS responds to physiological provocations, such as dietary sodium modulation, characterizes RAAS physiology and abnormalities in RAAS regulation may be associated with cardiometabolic diseases. This is highlighted in the literature that links aldosterone, using single cross-sectional meas...
متن کاملSex-specific-differences in cardiometabolic risk in type 1 diabetes: a cross-sectional study
BACKGROUND Little is known about the impact of sex-specific differences in the management of type 1 diabetes (T1DM). Thus, we evaluated the influence of gender on risk factors, complications, clinical care and adherence in patients with T1DM. METHODS In a cross-sectional study, sex-specific disparities in glycaemic control, cardiovascular risk factors, diabetic complications, concomitant medi...
